The Year 2017


  • Professor Haseena Khan was invited as a Plenary Speaker at South Asian Biotechnology Conference – 2017, Nepal. In this time, she gave brief ideas about her recent work on Jute Microbiota and its prospect as biocontrol as well as source of industrially importance enzymes and secondary metabolites.
  • Ahlan Sabah Ferdous, Samira Bushra, Shaheena Amin, Al- Amin and Parag Palit attended at South Asian Biotechnology Conference – 2017, Nepal.

  • Four MS thesis students (session 2015-2016), Moriam Akter Munni, Fahiza Bisrat, and Parag Palit have received the National Science and Technology (NST) fellowship, 2016.

  • MS thesis students (session 2015-2016), Mohammad Aiyaz has been awarded HEQEP fellowship.

  • Dr Haseena Khan has been awarded the prestigious “Kazi Mahbubullah Award” of Begum Zebunnessa and Kazi Mahbubullah Janakalyan Trust, 2016 for her contribution to jute molecular biology.

  • MS (session 2015) students, Avizit Das, Mahbuba Ferdous, Tania Nazmunnahar Tanwee and Farhana Tasnim Chowdhury have received the National Science and Technology (NST) fellowship, 2016.

  • Farhana Tasnim Chowdhury received the “Deans Award 2016” for her excellent academic result. Dr Haseena Khan, successfully organised in association with South Asian University, New Delhi the “2nd South Asian Biotechnology Conference,” (5-6 February 2015) as the chairman of the organising committee.

  • Mahbuba Ferdous has been awarded the “2nd Best Poster Prize Award” at the second South Asian Biotechnology Conference, held on 5-6 February, 2 at the Chowdhury Nawab Ali Senate Bhaban Dhaka”.

  • Molecular Biology Lab, University of Dhaka arranged a day long workshop on “Recent Developments in Bioinformatic tools for fungal metabolic gene cluster.”


  • The Year 2015


  • Al- Amin and Mrinmoy Sarker have enrolled in M.Phil. program in Molecular Biology Lab, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka; under HEQEP project from December 2015.

  • Farhana Shafrin received the “Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)” degree, awarded by the University of Dhaka for her research work on lignin reduction in jute.

  • Zulia Nasrin has enrolled as a PhD student under the sub project HEQEP AIF, WINDOW-2, CP-3250.

  • Samira Bushra was awarded the “2nd Best Poster Prize Award” at the 2nd GNOBB Conference, Dhaka; 2015.

  • Babry Fatema was awarded the “1st Prize” the National Conference on Biochemistry, Industry and Sustainable Economy, Dhaka; 2015.

  • Nazia Rifat Zaman has enrolled as a PhD student in Molecular Biology Lab, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka; under the sub project HEQEP AIF, WINDOW-2, CP-3250 from January 2015.

  • Prof. Haseena Khan has been awarded the BAS- M.O. Ghani Memorial Gold Medal 2011. December 2011.

  • Farhana Shafrin, PhD student, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka has attended ICGEB workshop on “Plant Adaptation Responses towards Abiotic Stress” New Delhi, India, 2011.

  • Chinmoy Saha, Research Fellow, Molecular Biology Lab, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka has attended ICGEB workshop on “Methodologies for the Study of Host-Pathogen Interactions” New Delhi, India, 2011.

  • Farhana Shafrin, Ph.D. student, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka has been awarded FAOBMB travel fellowship for participating 22nd FAOBMB conference on “Creativity and Innovation in Life Science Research, Enterprise and Education” Singapore,2011.

  • Ms Rozalynne Samira, M.Phil student, Molecular Biology Lab, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka was awarded FAOBMB travel fellowship for participating 21st IUBMB and 12th FAOBMB International Congress of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology held on August 2-7, 2009, Shanghai, China.

  • Md. Shahidul Islam, PhD student, Molecular Biology Lab, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka had been awarded IUBMB sponsored fellowship in the ‘Young Scientist Program’. These awardees were meeting in a program of the young scientists held on July 30-August 01, 2009, Shanghai, China prior to the IUBMB/FAOBMB Congress. He also attended 21st IUBMB and 12th FAOBMB International Congress of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology held on August 2-7, 2009, Shanghai, China.
