ARE
Molecular Biology Laboratory is a research laboratory of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka. Established in 1994 under the leadership of Professor Haseena Khan, the laboratory began with research on nodule bacteria and plant molecular biology and later played a pioneering role in the Jute Genome Project. Over the years, our research has expanded from jute genetics and genomics to plant–microbe interactions, microbial biotechnology, genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, bioinformatics, and natural product discovery. Today, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Riazul Islam, we pursue interdisciplinary research focused on sustainable agriculture, improved jute retting, microbial bioformulations, antimicrobial discovery, bacteriophage-based biocontrol, and antimicrobial resistance, translating biological knowledge into innovative and locally relevant solutions. see more
